Top Diving is located at the mid-point of Gran Canaria´s largest marine park. We visit 15 of the marine park´s dive sites all on a regular basis – reefs, wrecks, and artificial reefs. Giving you access to some of the most pristine and protected dive sites in Europe, all within 25 minutes boat ride from our dive shop. And these are some of the best dive sites in Gran Canaria.
The area called Franja marina de Mogán is located on the south-southwest coast of Gran Canaria. It covers an area of 29,993.09 hectares and is adjacent to 35,520 meters of the coastal strip of San Nicolás de Aldea, Mogán and San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
This space has been declared since September 2011 as a Special Area of Conservation or Zona Especial de Conservación (ZEC), a figure contained in the European Union Natura 2000 Network whose purpose is to ensure the long-term survival of the most threatened species and natural habitats in Europe, helping to stop the loss of biodiversity caused by the adverse impact of human activities.
The ZEC is managed in a way that guarantees the protection and conservation of the types of natural habitats and species of community interest present in the space, adopting the necessary conservation measures to achieve a sustainable balance between the development of uses and activities in the area and the conservation of the natural values it contains.
We are happy to report that year-after-year, since the development of Mogan´s marine park status we are seeing more and more fish abundance, including rarer species such at the Angel Shark.
